Leaking Vacuum Breaker
Hello Everyone.

Recently I had a client say that a new vacuum breaker which is a top sink model, was leaking. As this is very uncommon I suspect that the internal
gasket might be stuck.

A vacuum breaker is simply a one way valve that stops water from flowing from your sink back into the city water system.

If you take a detatched or un attached vacuum breaker and shake it you will hear something inside ratteling. This is the loose gasket moving around. It should be making that sound. If not it might be stuck, but let take a closer look.

The attached picture shows how to take apart one of the most common models, only a screw driver is needed to unscrew the two top screws. Inspect the gasket to make sure it is loose.
